Full description
The Rio Monio is known to be one of the most beautiful canyons in Emilia Romagna. Situated between the municipalities of Riolunato and Pievepelago, it is one of the pearls of the Parco Regionale dell'Alto Appennino Modenese.
With canyoning on the Rio Monio, an adventure in a spectacular and wild natural environment awaits you; you will feel like you are in Amazonia!
You will cross deep gorges on the torrent, abseiling with a rope from walls up to 30 metres high. You will dive into crystal-clear pools of water and let yourself go on toboggans, the natural slides carved by the water into the rock.
Accompanied by an alpine guide, you will have fun on a playful, exciting route that is also suitable for those practising canyoning for the first time.
What we will do
We will meet at 9:30 a.m. in Riolunato (MO). After getting acquainted with the guide and the rest of the group (5 to 20 participants), we will proceed to the handover ofequipment, dressing and the briefing on the activity. After that, we will drive to the starting point of the canyoning route.
Scrupulously following all the indications that the mountain guide will give us, we will immediately get into the swing of things with several rope descents. The most exciting one will be the one that will see us descend down a 30-metre waterfall!
The entire route will be dotted with dives, gorge crossings, rocky spurs and natural slides. We will follow the course of the Rio Monio , alternating between playful stretches in the water and restful walks. We will be constantly immersed in wild and lush nature, in close contact with the flora and fauna that inhabit these places.
The guide will be at our complete disposal to give us assistance and support and, in case we don't feel up to facing certain obstacles, will show us the alternative way around them, but only after having encouraged us to live the adventure to the full without fear!
The hike will end around 1.30 p.m. with the return to the meeting point in the village. The activity lasts a total of 4 hours, of which about 3 will be needed to complete the canyoning route (time may vary depending on water flow and number of participants).
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an easy level. Children, aged 10 and over, can also participate. It is not necessary to have already practised canyoning, but it is necessary to be in good physical shape and to be able to swim.

Attention! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.
Important! You can book any date from May to September (subject to weather and water flow in the stream) for groups of at least 5 participants. If you are alone or do not reach the minimum number, please contact us privately and we will let you know which dates are already scheduled for the activity.
This activity is suitable for families, groups of friends, team-building and also for celebrating special occasions such as graduations, birthdays and bachelor/bachelorette parties.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
