Full description
Leave the city behind and immerse yourself in the unspoilt nature of the Alcantara Park in Sicily with ahorseback excursion. Starting from Castiglione di Sicilia, you will ride through river areas, ancient ruins, vineyards, olive groves and even admire a Byzantine church.
Riding a tame horse, you will visit gorges and small waterfalls. You will get to know a different Sicily, far from the most emblazoned tourist spots, wild and evocative.
In the company of an equestrian guide, you will also become familiar with basic riding techniques and enjoy a truly unforgettable ride.
What we will do
The appointment is at the riding school in Castiglione di Sicilia, in the province of Catania. We will be welcomed by a qualified Engea Equestrian Guide who will introduce us to the splendid trained horses.
After a quick briefing on how to approach and handle the horse, we will set off for the ride. Inside the Alcantara Park we will pass along the banks of the river of the same name, admiring lava flows of different shapes and colours.
We will then make a brief stop at the Cuba di Santa Domenica, an ancient Byzantine church that we will admire from the outside. After this short break, we will continue our horseback ride between gorges and suggestive waterfalls. We will then ride through vineyards and olive groves in the Castiglione di Sicilia area and return to our starting point.
The pace will be at a leisurely pace and the walk will last 1 or 2 hours, to be chosen at the time of booking.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for anyone over the age of 15 and weighing up to 100 kg. No previous horse riding experience is necessary.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
