Full description
Come and fly in a hot-air balloon at the most prestigious aerostatic event in southern Italy, the Paestum Balloon Festival.
The Festival, dedicated to balloon flying, attracts thousands of visitors and hot-air balloons from all over Europe every year. What makes it so extraordinary is its proximity to the Paestum Archaeological Park, an open-air museum containing magnificent Greek temples and ancient ruins.
During the approximately one-hour flight you will fly over the Temples of Hera, Neptune and Athena against the backdrop of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the beautiful Amalfi Coast. You will fly floating in the air in absolute silence interrupted only by the breath of the burner that heats the balloon, in the evocative scenery ofdawn or sunset.
What we will do
The meeting point is at the archaeological area of Paestum, 500 metres south of the temples. Here we will meet the pilots and crews who will accompany us during the activity.
After check-in and a briefing of about 10 minutes, we will board the organisation's vehicles to reach the take-off point (in the case of morning flights). For those who wish to attend the balloon inflation operations, it is recommended to arrive 20 minutes before the agreed time. Once the balloons have been inflated, the experience will begin.
During the approximately 1-hour flight we will fly over the Paestum Archaeological Park. The panorama that will open up before our eyes will be incredible: we will see the magnificent Temples of Hera, Neptune and Athena, and other evocative Greco-Roman ruins, against the wonderful blue backdrop of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Cilento Coast. If the day is clear, you will even be able to see theisland of Capri in the distance.
In flight, we will experience the extraordinary emotion of "floating in the air", letting ourselves be carried away by the wind currents. In fact, the hot-air balloon will not follow a predefined route, but will advance by following the winds: this is the philosophy and also the principle of flight.
Once landed, we will fold the balloon and return to the initial meeting point. Between the pre-flight briefing, transfers and actual flight, the experience will last approximately two and a half hours.
Who it is aimed at
Flying in a hot-air balloon is a suitable activity for anyone in good health.
It is not possible to fly if:
- You have disabilities or impairments, diseases or syndromes that conflict with ballooning or altitude. In particular: you must not suffer from any type of heart disease, bone deficiency problems, serious back problems, you must not have hearing compensation problems, you cannot fly if you are pregnant.
- You are not able to enter and exit the basket independently, i.e. take one/two steps, pass one leg at a time on the other side of the guardrail, and descend inside the basket.
- You are unable to maintain the correct support position when landing (bend your knees while holding on to the handles).
- You are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- You have a body weight greater than 110 kg.
The minimum age for flying is 7 years, with a height of at least 1.20 cm. Minors of 16 years of age always accompanied by an adult and with parental consent.
If you have any doubts, consult your specialist and bring a medical certificate stating that you are fit to fly in a hot-air balloon. It is important to remove any doubts about the state of your health, otherwise it could affect your safety and that of the other passengers.

The activity takes place on the dates indicated in the calendar and coincide with the Paestum Balloon Festival.
Important: it is necessary to arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the time chosen for the activity!
A fanny pack or handbag for personal belongings is allowed in flight, extra bags or backpacks will be stowed in the shuttles and retrieved upon landing.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is moderate. You get a full refund if you cancel within 8 days from the activity start date. Within 7 and 5 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
