Full description
Fun fact: did you know that the fleet of the Republic of Venice was born here?
At one time, the fir trees of the Venegia Valley were used to build the ships of the Serenissima that sailed the Adriatic. Today, however, they will provide the backdrop for your snowshoe hike: a 3½-hour adventure with an Alpine Guide.
Ah, if you hear a peculiar acoustics, it's because you'll be going through the Violin Forest!
What we will do
The appointment is 15 minutes before 9: 30 a. m. at the meeting point in Primiero San Martino di Castrozza (TN). Awaiting us will be the Alpine Guide, who will accompany us on this adventure!
We will receive snowshoes and poles, included in the price, and we will participate in a short pre-departure briefing: how to adjust the snowshoes, how to walk on the snow, how to best manage the route.
Our snowshoe hike will have as its backdrop the Venegia Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Nature Park. We will cross woods whose timber was once used to build the ships of the Venetian Republic, hence the name of the valley.
But the Venetians were not the only ones to take an interest in these places: in fact, on our route we will also touch upon the Paneveggio Violin Forest, made up of spruce and resonance fir trees used by master lute-makers, including Stradivari.
Leaving the forest, we will follow a more open stretch along the Travignolo stream, where the view of the northern chain of the Pale di San Martino will strike us in all its grandeur. We will proceed along a 4 km loop with 200 metres of altitude difference, before returning to the starting point.
The experience will last a total of 3 ½ hours.

Participation is possible from the age of 8. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult; over 14s can also participate alone.
