Snowshoeing in the Dolomites means going on an adventure among the most beautiful mountains in Europe. The Eastern Alps mountain range, which stretches between Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a true monument of nature and landscape.
Snowshoeing in the Dolomites is among the winter outdoor activities best suited to those who seek a close-to-nature experience and want to experience the mountains in a more intimate and peaceful dimension than on the ski slopes. Walking in the fresh snow, enveloped in the silence of the forests and pristine slopes with the Dolomite peaks as a backdrop, is a blessing for body and mind!

Snowshoes are tools that you attach to the base of your boots to allow you to walk nimbly on the snow. They are suitable for everyone, even children, and do not require special physical abilities. If anything, the difficulty may come from the length and elevation gain of the route, but there are snowshoe hikes of all types and levels in the Dolomites.
Snowshoeing can be a great alternative to skiing and the perfect activity for discovering hidden nooks and crannies among the majestic peaks of the Dolomites. You can go for day walks but also snowshoeing at night or hiking at sunset with the possibility to stop at a mountain lodge to enjoy a good mountain dish!
Among the best locations for snowshoeing in the Veneto region is undoubtedly Cortina d’Ampezzo, a landmark for those who want to discover the beauty of the Belluno Dolomites. From Cortina you can set off on some of the most famous snowshoe routes, such as the one to Lake Misurina and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
You can also walk the Great War trails, starting from Col Gallina locality. Not to be missed is the Cinque Torri trail, a great classic in the Dolomites, which leads to an authentic viewing terrace of rocky spires.
The municipalities of Andalo, Molveno, and Fai della Paganella are the starting points of many snowshoe hikes in the Brenta Dolomites. A snowshoe hike is the best way to delve into the trails of the Paganella mountain range and discover the most striking views of the Trentino Dolomites.
This region is a true paradise for snowshoe hikers , who can choose from the Val di Fassa, Val Badia, Val Pusteria, Val Gardena, and Alpe Cimbra, among other locations. There are routes for all tastes, from easy and scenic ones to challenging hikes to high altitude lodges.
Snowshoeing with an Alpine Guide varies in price depending on location, duration and any extra included services. To get an idea: a scenic snowshoe hike in Paganella costs €25 per person, and it goes up to €65 per person for an overnight snowshoe hike in Val di Fassa with dinner at the lodge. Snowshoes and sticks are always included in the price.
For upcoming anniversaries, choose to gift outdoor experiences and make your loved ones happy with an activity to enjoy together for unforgettable moments. A snowshoe hike with friends can be a wonderful gift idea, perhaps paired with a dinner or aperitif at a mountain lodge so you don’t have to miss anything at all!

26 Jan 2023 | High-altitude snowshoeing on the Paganella in Andalo
An experience to be absolutely repeated. The guide is very knowledgeable and told us many interesting facts about the local fauna and flora. Slightly tiring (if you're not very fit) because the whole first half is uphill, but really doable for everyone (for me, it was the first snowshoe hike ever), and it's really worth it because the view from the Paganella is worth that little extra effort. Apart from that, very reasonable price. Ski lifts excluded (at least from the price I paid). There are malghe (shepherd's huts) in the area where they cook divinely. I'm only sorry to have written the review after almost a year, but I hope you'll forgive me... enjoy!

Our guide Davide decided at the last minute not to go up the mountain because of the wind and fog that would have prevented us from seeing the wonderful panorama of Andalo. However, he took us on a beautiful route through the woods around the village. Along the way, he gave us interesting explanations on the morphology of the area and how to tackle the trails safely. The only criticism I can make is the failure to provide us with snowshoes, which would have been a nice help during the long walk. And also the closed refuge on Tuesday where we were supposed to have an aperitif, patience. But it was a wonderful experience that I recommend to everyone.

It was our first snowshoe hike and we were really enthusiastic.nWe set off from Andalo and once we got on the cable car, we put on our snowshoes and set off. Honestly, we thought we would have done less climbing, but since we were a group of resins with a 'good pace', the guide suggested we lengthen the tour and we ended up at the La Roda refuge! At the refuge, we rested (excellent crepes) and then descended by chairlift. It was just a shame that we didn't enjoy the view because of the cloudy sky.nOverall a very good experience.nReally good guide!

Extremely impressive views and a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. The snowshoe hike started just before sunset and ended half an hour after nightfall (the part in the dark was illuminated by torchlight). Aperitif ok: choice of a glass of red, white or spritz (I don't think so, but I'm not sure) + a noodle with five/six samples. Tasty but perhaps a little on the small side (for the cost of the experience, not in absolute terms). Overall, the experience was satisfying.

My companion and I entrusted Freedome with a snowshoeing trip in Trentino. punctuality OK guide OK knew how to manage the heterogeneous group in terms of age and 'physicality', managing the breaks very well and entertaining the participants with very interesting naturalistic and cultural notions. the snow finally arrived and was our walking companion. i would do it again soon ( if i didn't live far away ) Franco

We arrive at the headquarters, they hand us our equipment, we go up in the gondola, they explain to us how to put on the ciapsole and we split into 3 groups to start the route. Everything was fine, we walked and every now and then we stopped and the guide gave us a little description of the area. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day and we didn't get to see the sunset but it was still a good experience.
