Riding a snowmobile requires nothing more than having a B license and following the directions of experienced guides. A briefing is always held before departure to learn the controls and become familiar with the vehicle. One driver and one passenger can ride on each snowmobile.
Snowmobiles can only be used in suitable snow conditions. Generally you move along beaten tracks and the feeling is that of riding a motorcycle or quad bike. It is recommended to bring a pair of sunglasses with you to avoid visibility problems.
A snowmobile tour in Madesimo is an exciting and evocative experience. It starts at an altitude of 1,500 meters and follows a scenic route that winds through larch and fir forests. The route has some ups and downs and is fun and practicable even for those with no previous experience.
Along the way we stop several times to admire the view of the peaks of the Alps and the Farrè glacier and arrive at a quarry of green beola, a typical stone of the area. You can then continue to Lago Nero until you reach 2,350 meters above sea level.
A 30-minute snowmobile tour in Madesimo costs 85 euros. The fee includes snowmobile rental for two participants (driver and passenger) and accompaniment by an experienced guide. This is the basic offer. Prices go up for more comprehensive experiences. For example, an overnight excursion with dinner costs 220 euros for two.

The excursion was a lot of fun, but at the same time a lot of attention was paid to the organisation and safety of the participants. The tour offered up and downs in areas that cannot be reached by other systems and passing through a few small towns. Halfway along the route it is possible to stop for photos and possible guide exchanges. The snowmobiles are very stable, but at the same time it is permitted, if desired by the participants, to increase the speed at certain times. I recommend the ride at sunset time to enjoy the panorama of the Madesimo mountains as the sun goes down, which is very scenic from the summit halfway up. Definitely worth a try!

It was a wonderful experience. We wanted to go in the morning, but there was only availability in the afternoon at 4.30 p.m. and I must say that the colours on the frozen mountains at sunset were really beautiful. We had never snowmobiled before but will probably do it again in the future. Recommended to everyone.

New, well-maintained snowmobiles (although I am not an expert). It is not a difficult activity, although you have to be careful and familiar with the vehicle. However, it remains an activity suitable for everyone. Watch out for the weather; I recommend choosing a day with excellent visibility!
