Are you a beginner and want to know how to ride a snowmobile? No problem, before departing the instructors always conduct a briefing in which they explain the main commands, safety rules to be maintained and rules of conduct for any situation that may arise along the way.
After a little practice getting familiar with the vehicle, you’ll be ready to venture into snowy woods and trails. The only requirement to ride the snowmobile is to have a B license. If you plan to take your children with you or other minors, check at the time of booking the minimum age for the passenger aboard the snowmobile, a limit that may vary from center to center.
Snowmobile tours, while still not a popular activity, are beginning to be offered in almost all major mountain resorts. Some destinations, however, hold unparalleled appeal. If you are on vacation in the Belluno Dolomites, perhaps in Cortina d’Ampezzo, one of the iconic places to take a snowmobile tour in the Veneto region is the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are reached starting from Misurina, on a route full of charm and enriched by breathtaking views.
Other interesting routes are those leading to Mt. Piana and Croda da Lago. Starting from Sappada, in the province of Udine in Friuli Venezia Giulia, just a few kilometers from the border with Veneto, you can reach Piave, Digola Pass, and Pian del Sir. A 1-hour snowmobile tour costs around 100€. The price normally refers to the vehicle, which can carry up to two passengers. The cost goes up if the snowmobile ride is combined with another experience, such as dinner at a lodge or a snowshoeing tour. In these cases, the rates can range from 110 to 150€.

We booked the snowmobile excursion + snowshoeing to spend a different weekend in one of the places we love most, the Dolomites. We were accompanied by a very kind instructor, the excursion starts with a snowmobile ride to the refuge and then a fantastic snowshoe hike around the 3 peaks of Lavaredo. Really worth it, to be done again as soon as possible!!!!

Beautiful route, crowned by a very atmospheric ascent by snowmobile and a descent by sledge (for those who want to, you can alternatively descend by snowmobile). Lots of wind, balaclavas would have been needed! Lovely scenery, not the 'usual' snowshoeing in the middle of the forest!
