Kitesurfing is a variation of surfing: it is practiced on a board by holding a bar to which a special kite is attached. The wind inflates and stretches the kite, pulling the surfer over the waves. In fact, all classes begin with a theoretical part that serves to teach the participant to recognize the main currents. Another key thing is to learn how to control the kite out of the water. Only after becoming familiar with the bar and kite can you enter the water and take your first steps on the board.

No previous experience is necessary to kitesurf, as there are courses for all levels. Of course, those who already play board sports have an advantage, but by turning to a kitesurfing school with qualified instructors, everyone can learn.

Lake Garda kitesurfing: where to practice it

The best spots for kitesurfing on Lake Garda are Navene and Malcesine on the Veneto side and Campione and Tignale on the Lombardy side. As for the Trentino shores, Torbole and Riva del Garda are the best equipped locations.

In Campione sul Garda, as well as in Tignale and Malcesine, schools organize both advanced courses and introductory experiences for beginners. Individual classes last 2 to 3 hours, but it is also possible to sign up for multi-day courses.

Kitesurfing is practiced from March to October/November. For those who are already practicing, the schools provide lift service and equipment rental. The more experienced will also be able to try the
hydrofoil and the wing foil.

How much does it cost to kitesurf on Lake Garda?

Prices for kitesurfing courses and lessons on Lake Garda vary depending on the location, duration and level of the activity. To give you an idea: a 2-hour introductory class in Malcesine costs 80 euros; for a multi-day course the cost starts at 210 euros per person. The fee includes full kitesurfing equipment.
