Horseback riding: everything you need to know

Horse riding is a suitable activity even for those who have never ridden a horse before. In this case, before setting off, the guides offer a short introductory lesson on basic horsemanship techniques, during which they teach the basic commands to give the horses. Horseback riding tours take place mainly on nature trails, varying in length and difficulty.

The most commonly used gait is the walk, while the trot and gallop are used only in itineraries aimed at those who are already experienced. Horseback riding can be practiced year-round, even in the snow. You should always wear closed shoes and long, sturdy pants to avoid irritation from contact and friction. Helmet and technical equipment are provided by the riding school.

Horseback riding on Lake Garda: the best locations

The Alto Garda Bresciano Park offers numerous itineraries to enjoy a horseback ride overlooking the lake. Tremosine and Toscolano Maderno are the places from which to set off on trails immersed in the greenery of the protected natural area between the Riviera dei Limoni and the Prealps.

On the borders of Trentino, the town of Arco is the starting point for many outdoor activities, including horseback riding from Alto Garda to the Dolomites. On the Veneto side, too, there are stables and farmhouses with horses that offer excursions for riders of all levels.

How much does a horseback riding tour on Lake Garda cost?

Prices for a horseback ride on Lake Garda vary mainly by duration. For example, a 1-hour tour costs 30 euros, while a day trip with lunch included costs 120 euros. A multi-day horse riding experience starts at 500 euros, all-inclusive.

A couple of carefree hours

Relaxed ride with beautiful views. To be recommended especially for those who have never ridden a horse. I would just make it a little more dynamic by giving those who know how to ride a horse the chance to take advantage of some stretches at least for a trot. I highly recommend this excursion, the guide Ketti super helpful and very kind

Valentina was really nice and very nice. The one with glasses and curly hair said shit to one of our friends because she was wearing short shorts and told her that she wouldn't let her on, but she said it in a really obnoxious way. nThe one with the fringes got a bit nervous as soon as we started on the horse because one of us had never been on it and couldn't make it go in the direction we had been pointed and told her that if she wasn't sure she would have to get off right away (first time on a horse we had started from 10 seconds with only 1 minute of explanation)

My daughter and I got on well, we went out with the guide who took us through the vineyards. Quiet and docile horses for the first experience as a saddle baptism.
