A good suggestion for those who are in Cogne and want to go on a winter hike is to equip themselves with snowshoes and sticks and venture onto the trails of the Gran Paradiso National Park, accessible from the hamlet of Valnontey.
Another evocative route is to the Lillaz waterfalls, which in the colder months are completely frozen over and amaze with their shape and grandeur. From the town of Cogne it is possible to reach the Sylvenoire forest with snowshoes. Squirrels, deer and other woodland friends can be spotted here too!

Wonderful experience. My partner and I had never snowshoed before and we really enjoyed it. The guide Erika was incredible. She told us lots of interesting facts and gave us a great tour. Snowshoeing with a guide turned out to be a great way to explore the mountains in a more enriching way than a walk, but less demanding than other snow activities. The snowshoeing was not difficult, but not boring either because, even though the route is mainly in flat areas, we were able to enjoy a few ascents and descents, which made for an even more enjoyable experience. Serena was an excellent guide: I was impressed by her kindness and all the anecdotes she told us about animals and the mountain world. It's worth a try!
