Canyoning is an aquatic discipline that involves exploring the bed of a mountain stream. Assisted by a mountain guide, you walk through the canyon’s gorges and narrow passages and rappel between waterfalls and rock walls. Natural slides and dives into pools of crystal-clear water are the most playful part of a canyoning trail. The activity requires no specific skills other than good aquatics and the ability to swim where the course requires it.
Val Bodengo Canyoning starts from the town of Gordona, in the province of Sondrio. This is one of the most popular routes among canyoning enthusiasts and is divided into three levels, from beginner to expert. The course is an adrenaline-pumping mix of slides, waterfalls, deep pools to plunge into, vertiginous gorges, and walls up to 60 meters of height from which to abseil using a rope.
The Val Bodengo 1 course can also be done by children 8 years old and up, and does not require previous experience but swimming skills are necessary. However, other routes require at least previous experience and good physical condition.
A canyoning experience in the Bodengo Valley starts at a price of €65 per person for a basic route lasting about 3 hours. There are often discounts for younger children, and equipment is always included in the price.
