Snowshoes: what they are and how to use them

Snowshoes are a type of footwear that you attach to the base of hiking boots and allow you to walk nimbly on the snow, without sinking, thanks to the metal crampons underneath. They are easy to use and suitable for everyone and can be a great alternative to skiing, both for those who do not know how to ski but also for those who want to take a break from the slopes and enjoy the quieter, more intimate side of the mountains.

For those who do not own personal snowshoes, it is possible to rent them, at one of the many points used just for snowshoe rental in Pila.

A beautiful Sunday snowshoeing 😃

Guide Giovanni helpful and attentive to everyone's needs. For me it was quite tiring, even if it is presented as easy, but in fact we are not all trained and there are some good climbs that require all your energy 😅 However, doing this hike is worth it and if you are lucky like us to find a nice sunny day the view of the landscape is wonderful. If I can give 2 pieces of advice: - give a time limit for the arrival after which you lose the trip - make 2 groups to give the possibility to those who feel like continuing to the top and those who do not feel like going back to the base.

An alternative day on snowshoes, it was our first experience and we were lucky enough to meet Mr Paolo, who was very kind and knowledgeable, not only accompanied us on the snowshoe hike, but also entertained us by explaining very interesting information about the area. Absolutely recommended and to be repeated!
