The Sorrento Coast consists in a stretch of land separating the Gulf of Naples from the Gulf of Salerno and, together with the Amalfi Coast, is one of the main tourist destinations in the region Campania. Celebrated by artists, musicians and poets, the city of Sorrento offers truly striking views. Sheer cliffs, emerald-water bays, seaside villages and the scent of lemon groves contribute to the land's appeal to tourists from all over the world.
Sorrento has always been an exclusive tourist resort, from the earliest times. Queen Jeanne of Anjou, ruler of Naples in the first half of the 15th century, used to go on holiday to Capo Sorrento itself, in a pristine bay with crystal clear waters. This location today is famous under the name of Bagni delle Regina Giovanna and is one of the main highlights of the Sorrento Coast. In addition to offering lovely scenery, it is also one of the major archaeological sites in the area, as it preserves the ruins of the ancient Roman villa of Pollio Felice.
From Sorrento, you can also reach in a short time Capri and the Amalfi Coast, two destinations that need no introduction. In short, a boat tour to Sorrento is a journey into the beauty of nature, ancient traditions and the admirable work of man. Three elements that come together here in perfect harmony.

Sorrento is an ideal starting point for visiting the beautiful coast of Campania. Those in town cannot miss a scenic tour of the Sorrento Peninsula. We have already mentioned the Bagni della Regina Giovanna, but there are several must-see locations. Punta Campanella, at the far end of the promontory, is a marine protected area that rises right in front of Capri, offering enchanting views. The Bay of Ieranto is a natural inlet characterized by particularly clean and crystal clear waters.
These places are mandatory stops on any boat tour departing from Sorrento. Continuing to sail towards Amalfi, you encounter the Crapolla Fjord, another picturesque natural inlet, and the Li Galli Archipelago. These three small islands are almost completely untouched and shrouded in ancient legends.
Sorrento is the starting point for many boat tours to Capri. In a few minutes of sailing, you reach Marina Grande and from there you begin to circumnavigate the island. Most scenic tours, in fact, involve a complete tour around Capri. With a boat, you can reach small beaches and hidden bays to enjoy wonderful dips in the clear waters. The tours usually pass the Faraglioni, the island’s symbol, and the Natural Arch, a rocky structure in the shape of an arch, created as a result of erosive phenomena.
Many boat tours also include a visit to the Blue Grotto, one of Capri’s main attractions, famous for the bright blue color of its waters. But the Green Cave and White Cave are equally impressive, and more easily accessible. Other attractions that can be admired from the boat include the Punta Carena lighthouse, Curzio Malaparte’s villa.
Boat tours to Capri from Sorrento last half a day or a full day. In this case, the tour’s schedule allows you to spend a break of several hours on the island, wandering the picturesque streets and capturing the many “belvedere”. Don’t waste the opportunity to take a look at the luxurious boutiques and eat an ice cream or slice of torta caprese in the small panoramic square.
Positano is considered the “pearl of the Amalfi Coast,” the most exclusive and the most photographed destination, thanks to the endless picturesque views it offers. Reaching it by boat from Sorrento or Amalfi is the best choice. This allows you to enjoy the coastal scenery, stop for a swim in the coves, and avoid the traffic that often clogs the roads, especially in high season.
To reach Positano from Sorrento, you sail along the Sorrento Coast, round Punta Campanella and then continue in the direction of Amalfi. Along the way, you encounter many places of interest, such as the Bagni della Regina Giovanna, the Bay of Ieranto, the Fiordo di Crapolla, the Li Galli Islands and other caves and coves. Once in Positano, be sure to take a tour of the center among the elegant villas overlooking the sea and among the small stores selling souvenirs, and food and wine specialties.
A tour of the Amalfi Coast by sea includes at least the two stops at Positano and Amalfi. The Ancient Maritime Republic of Amalfi is the landmark of the coast. Its beautiful cathedral and tangle of alleys and stairways are certainly worth a visit. Between Amalfi and Positano, you can stop for a swim near the Fiordo di Furore, a deep inlet of emerald-colored water between two sheer rocky ridges.
Some boat tours also allow a stop at the Emerald Grotto. To go inside the karst cave, it is necessary to board special rafts, paying a separate ticket. Continuing in the direction of Salerno, past Amalfi, you encounter Atrani, Minori and Maiori, charming villages that deserve at least a visit from the sea.
Boat trips to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast can be of two types: private tours or group tours, that is shared with other passengers. A private tour is the preferred choice for those who want an exclusive experience and total privacy and tranquility on board. Private tours include boat rental with skipper. They follow the same itineraries as the shared tours, but can also be customized according to clients’ preferences. They lend themselves to special occasions such as private parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, honeymoons and more.
There is also a whole range of offers that combine the boat tour with other recreational activities. For example, sunset boat tours with aperitif, boat tours with lunch or dinner, mini-cruises with overnight stay. In short, those who wish to go by sea to the Sorrento and Amalfi Coast are spoiled for choice!
Given the wide variety of offers, prices vary widely and depend on itinerary, duration and type of trip. To get an idea: a full-day boat tour to Capri or the Amalfi Coast, departing from Sorrento, costs 139 to 149 euros per person.
For private tours, the rental of the entire boat with skipper must be considered. It starts from 600 euros a day for a motorboat or a Sorrentine gozzo and can go up to thousands of euros to rent a luxurious yacht.
More and more people are choosing to give an experience as a gift instead of an item to store in a closet or drawer. And what could be better than a boat tour in Sorrento? A trip to dreamy places, lulled by the sea and pampered by the crew, will be a lasting memory. Therefore, a boat tour can be a great idea for a birthday gift, anniversary or any other occasion.
On the other hand, if you want to celebrate an important event in style, you can rent a private boat, invite family and close friends, and toast your milestones. The sea of Sorrento will be the perfect backdrop for a truly memorable day!

We did an 8-hour tour by speedboat with a stop in Capri... The tour was wonderful, we were very well looked after from start to finish, the welcome on board was exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to Captain Francesco, friendly, courteous, helpful and very professional. His assistant Teresa, very polite, also helpful and understanding, attentive to everyone's needs. We found an exceptional group that made the trip enjoyable and very entertaining. Definitely to be repeated.

I chose this activity as a birthday present for my mother. I had initially requested a gift card (valid for 1 year) so that we could choose the date together. Unfortunately, almost at the end of the year, the places were all occupied, so I contacted freedome's customer service, who offered to turn the gift card into a voucher to be used within 6 months of the request. Everything was solved in a few minutes! Helpful, friendly and ready to help. In addition, the activity was very nice!
