Amalfi Coast by boat: all the most picturesque places

Along the Amalfi Coast there are unique locations that deserve to be visited at least once in a lifetime. Beginning with Amalfi, an ancient Maritime Republic, to Positano, Praiano, Sorrento, and the entire Sorrento Peninsula.

Beyond the cities and towns, nature also provides real gems, which can only be fully enjoyed by sea. A boat tour will allow you to explore caves, fjords and dreamy bays. For example, in Conca dei Marini Bay, just a few kilometers from Amalfi, there’s the famous Emerald Grotto. This owes its name to the intense color of its waters, due to the reflection of sunlight on the rocks.

Emerald-colored waters also characterize the striking Fiordo di Furore, a natural inlet with sheer cliffs overlooking the sea. This place is famous for its wild beauty and is particularly appreciated by daredevils who love to dive from a bridge overhanging 30 meters above the sea.

By sailing along the Amalfi Coast you can also easily reach the island of Capri, with its Blue Grotto, the Faraglioni and everything that has always made it one of the most fascinating places in the Mediterranean.

The best tours from Salerno, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento

The best choice for visiting the Amalfi Coast by boat is to start from one of its extremes and travel its entire length. Starting from Salerno, for example, you pass through Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Maiori, Minori, Atrani, Amalfi, Praiano, and Positano. All these seaside villages nestled among the mountains overlooking the sea create a true crescendo of beauty and charm.

Those who decide to start from Sorrento will have the opportunity to also see the highlights of the Sorrento peninsula, such as Bagni della regina Giovanna, Punta Campanella and Ieranto Bay. The tours always include stops for swimming or snorkeling. The sea in these areas is perfect: clear and enchanting. Impossible to resist the lure of a dip from the boat!

Amalfi Coast boat tour: the best itineraries from Naples and Sorrento

Those who decide to set out on a tour of the Amalfi Coast from Naples will stop in Sorrento and then continue in the direction of Amalfi. This itinerary also provides a view of the enchanting Bay of Naples, with its city at the bottom of the imposing Vesuvius.

Along the way, you pass around the Sorrento Peninsula, which is also rich in seafaring villages, fishing villages, natural inlets and picture-postcard bays. The archaeological remains of the Bagni della Regina Giovanna, the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella and the Bay of Ieranto are the beauties that accompany travelers to Positano. From here, you go on to Praiano and then Amalfi, the final stop with a not-to-be-missed visit to the cathedral and the alleys of the ancient Maritime Republic.

Amalfi Coast boat tour: how much does it cost?

Prices for a boat tour on the Amalfi Coast depend mainly on the duration, departure location, and services included on board. To get an idea: a half-day boat trip departing from Amalfi costs about 100 euros per person. For a full-day tour, however, you spend around 150 euros per person. The fee often includes snacks and drinks on board and a guide who tells the history and details of places along the way.

It is also possible to book private tours for special occasions or just to enjoy more privacy and tranquility. Of course, the prices for these special trips go up quite a bit, because you rent the entire boat with a skipper.

Gift a boat tour on the Amalfi Coast

A boat tour to the Amalfi Coast is more than a trip or a day of relaxation and tourism. It’s a jewel, not to be worn, but to be lived intensely and treasured in the heart. A boat trip to Positano or Amalfi can be a perfect gift for anniversaries and special occasions.

It is the perfect opportunity for a romantic weekend getaway to give to the person you love or to spend a special day with the whole family. And for those who want to celebrate a special event such as a bachelor/bachelorette party in style, there is no better idea than a private boat party together with lifelong friends.

08 Oct 2020 | Half-day boat tour and snorkeling on the Amalfi Coast

Fantastic experience, not to be missed!

We spent a beautiful day on a boat on the Amalfi Coast: the group was small and the crew attentive and friendly. We sailed along the coast from Amalfi to Positano, stopping along the way at beautiful beaches for swimming and snorkelling... wonderful! The guides shared information about the attractions and cultural background of the place with knowledge and humour, proving knowledgeable, informative and entertaining. Breathtaking views, crystal clear waters, friendly and helpful crew - what more could you want? A must for anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast, a fun and refreshing way to see the wonderful Amalfi Coast. Highly recommended, thank you Antonio!

The best day we have spent on the Amalfi Coast!!! The skipper's kindness, the breathtaking views, the stops for swimming at the best spots and the many little treats we were offered (melon snack, soft drinks, wine and limoncello) made it an unforgettable experience! Congratulations, Linda and Samuel.
