A hot air balloon is a means of flight consisting of a balloon, a burner and a wicker basket carrying passengers. Thanks to the blaze from the burner, the balloon inflates with hot air and is able to rise into the air by taking advantage of Archimedes’ principle.
Having reached a suitable altitude, the hot air balloon begins its journey by following the trajectory of the wind. One of the most fascinating sides of the air balloon is precisely the unpredictability of the path. Having neither motor nor rudder, in fact, it is impossible to steer the hot air balloon. However, the pilots are perfect wind connoisseurs and, thanks to their experience, they always ensure scenic and safe flights.
Flying in a hot air balloon is a suitable activity for everyone. No specific skills or experience are required. The only restrictions are for pregnant women and pacemaker wearers. Otherwise, you just need to be in good health and have no lower limbs issues, as you travel standing up in the basket.
Before each hot air balloon ride, a pre-flight briefing on behavior and safety rules is always held by the pilot. Then you watch the preparation and inflation of the balloon, and when everything is ready you board the basket for take-off.
The best take-off point for hot air balloon flights in Milan is San Colombano al Lambro, about an hour’s drive from the capital. Flying in this area, you get to admire Lombardy’s countryside and the geometries of its cultivated fields. Looking out from the basket, it is possible to see the cities of Milan and Pavia, the Po’ River, and the mountain ranges of the Pre-Alps and Apennines.
Since the route cannot be predicted exactly, a ground vehicle follows the route of the hot air balloon and stops at the landing site to bring the passengers back. An aperitif of typical products is always provided after the flight. In this case, products from Lombardy’s zero-mile farmsteads will be offered.
To fly in a hot air balloon in Milan, you can choose between two options: group flight and private flight. With a private flight, you can reserve the entire hot air balloon for you and your partner or for a small group of 3-5 people. With a group flight, however, you will share the tour with other passengers, up to the maximum capacity of the basket, which is 8 people.
Group flight prices start at 189 euros per person and may vary depending on the date and time chosen. Afternoon flights and flights made on weekends usually cost more. For a private flight, usually the price is higher and varies depending on the number of participants.
Included in the participation fee there’s a flight certificate, final drink and return to the meeting point. To be ready for the experience, we recommend that you dress comfortably and wear flat shoes. There is no need to cover up excessively, because at flight altitude temperatures do not vary much from those on the ground.

My mum and I took part in the afternoon flight yesterday: it was an exciting and relaxing experience, thanks to the beautiful day and clear skies. The staff were very organised and precise in everything, we left on time and they picked us up when we landed with professionalism. At the end, salami, cheese and their own white wine were waiting for us. Totally satisfied with the experience! Thank you!

Exciting. Perfect organisation, from the transport from the meeting point to the field where the hot-air balloons were set up, the briefing with the necessary safety instructions, to the flight (truly spectacular), perfect landing and return transport, not without a robust breakfast with tasting of excellent local products. To be repeated !!!!

A sensational flying experience, we were impressed by the size of the balloon, how they inflated it and how Riccardo piloted it. We literally glided over the rice fields and then took to the skies to see the first morning sun, we also greeted quite a few people who came out of the house as we passed. I recommend it to everyone.

Friendly and sociable staff. A great experience! The flight went well, the weather was perfect and the view.... Stunning!!! I really like the idea that the hot-air balloon cannot be steered but is directed by air currents. We also enjoyed the final toast with very good local products.

It was a wonderful adventure from the very beginning when we witnessed the preparation of the balloon and even participated in it. And the Flight itself cannot be expressed in words, you have to feel it and experience it, and the landing was magnificent. To be repeated !!!!!!!

thanks to the pilot and all the operators who contributed to the success of the flight. It was nice to be suspended in the air, observing the geometry of the fields, the colour of the meadows, the design of the river and the shadows of the hot air balloon and the trees!
