No special skills or preparation are required for take part in a hot air balloon flight. You only have to be in good health and have no lower limb disorders, as you travel standing up in the basket. You first get to watch the ground crew inflate the balloon, and, after the pilot holds a behavior and safety briefing, you are ready for takeoff.
Flights last about 1 hour and usually do not exceed 500 meters in altitude. The path is determined by wind currents, and it is generally no colder on board than on land. Therefore, it is enough to wear seasonal clothing and comfortable shoes. Pregnant women and pacemaker wearers cannot fly. A minimum height of 130 cm is required for children.
The main flying area for hot air balloons in Lombardy is the province of Milan. The takeoff point at San Colombano al Lambro, southeast of the Milanese capital, is also easily accessible from Lodi, Pavia and Cremona.
To fly in Milan, hot air balloons take off from San Colombano al Lambro, about 1 hour southeast of the capital city. With a flight in this area, you can admire a wide landscape over the Lombardy countryside and can see both the Alps and the Apennines.
From the top of the hot air balloon, you can appreciate the geometries of the cultivated fields, see the Po’ River and the urban agglomerations of nearby cities. Of course, it depends on which direction the wind is blowing, but in many cases it is also possible to admire the tall skyscrapers of Milan.
Prices for balloon flights depend on the place of departure, the type of experience, and the chosen date and time. To get an idea: a group hot air balloon flight over Milan in the weekend costs €249 per person.
Private flights, on the other hand, have higher prices that vary depending on the number of participants involved.

very exciting, but also very short, more kilometres were travelled by car than by hot air balloon, and very emotional the preparation before the flight and the closing after landing,very friendly and attentive staff throughout.

Very nice experience until the landing even though 12 people were too many, we were cramped, maximum 10 on that balloon. Once we landed the agony began. 30-45min in the sun while they closed the balloon and loaded it. 12 people waiting in the middle of nowhere. Afterwards you are transported to a shed with 5 (dirty) chairs to make toast with taralli. So up from 5 a.m. without breakfast until 9.30 a.m. Suggestion: instead of a toast that no one made, it would have been nice to have a brioche and a thermos with coffee at the meeting point before leaving. and at the end a camping table with 2 benches while you wait for them to finish. I'm giving 4 stars and no less because the crew (pilot and helpers on the ground) were nice, polite and willing. You just need to better organise the minutes of waiting for people who paid 250€ each.

Exciting. Perfect organisation, from the transport from the meeting point to the field where the hot-air balloons were set up, the briefing with the necessary safety instructions, to the flight (truly spectacular), perfect landing and return transport, not without a robust breakfast with tasting of excellent local products. To be repeated !!!!
