Everything you need to know about rafting

Rafting is a team river sport that involves traveling down the course of a river in special boats, called rafts. Each dinghy can carry a crew of 6 to 8 people, captained by an experienced guide who gives commands for navigation and coordinates movements. Aided by a paddle, the crew must overcome rapids and other natural obstacles they encounter along the way.

In its recreational form, rafting is a sport suitable for everyone. It requires no special skills or experience. You just need to have a good relationship with the water and choose the course best suited to your level. Before going into the water, a briefing on basic techniques and safety rules is held, and you are ready to go.

Rafting Verona: the best trips on the Adige River

Those who want to go rafting in Verona can choose routes in the city center or in the province. For urban rafting, you start from sports centers on the edge of town and navigate the Adige River to the historic center, passing under the arches of the famous Ponte Pietra (Stone Bridge). For an even more impressive experience, it is also possible to take this route at night and admire the illuminated city.

Rafting on the Adige River can also be done from the localities of Pescantina, Brentino Belluno, and Rivoli Veronese, all of which are close to Lake Garda and about a half-hour drive from Verona. This is the starting point of the most beautiful routes in the Terra dei Forti and Val Lagarina, where the Adige flows through vineyards, hillsides covered with thick vegetation, and rocky ridges that make the landscape very picturesque. These areas are renowned for wine production and, in fact, many centers offer rafting trips with wine tasting.

How much does it cost to go rafting in Verona?

Prices for rafting in Verona vary depending on the starting location and the length of the trip. It starts at 20 euros per person for a basic trip on the Adige in the Terra dei Forti and goes up to 60 euros for a trip with tasting. An evening rafting trip in the city of Verona, on the other hand, costs 30 euros per person.

Great Rafting Experience!

We had a great trip down the river with Oriano. We swam several times, saw herons and other wildlife and basqued in the beautiful countryside as we floated downstream.

Wonder

I had a brilliant time, although I’d recommend bringing some flip-flops or leaving your shoes on shore and putting on plenty of sun cream; apart from that, I’d recommend this activity to everyone, even those who get seasick. Our guide, Andrea, was really friendly and funny, as well as very helpful. If you need to, he’ll take you back to the town centre or to the original meeting point. It lasted two hours, which flew by. I’ll definitely do it again. (Money’s no object.)

A real spectacle

It was a wonderful experience. The view you get whilst paddling down the river is completely different from the one you see when travelling along the road or the nearby cycle path. It’s also great fun to take a dip and let the current carry you along. Well worth a go. It’s not difficult at all.
