Rafting in Umbria: everything you need to know
Rafting is a sporting discipline that involves descending a stream in a raft. Each raft can accommodate a maximum of 8 people.
Before setting off, a short basic lesson is held to learn how to properly use the paddles and the rest of the equipment. In addition to a swimsuit, participants wear a neoprene wetsuit, a life jacket and a protective helmet to travel safely.
Once on board, the rafting guide gives commands to the crew to move through the natural obstacles along the river.
The best rafting trips in Umbria
Rafting centers in Umbria organize activities suitable for everyone, beginners and experts.
Those who wish to go rafting in the Valnerina can choose to navigate the Nera River. Beginners and families prefer to go through the less challenging section, while thrill-seekers have a go at a harder route under the Marmore Falls.
Another possible location is the Corno River, a tributary of the Nera River, known for the quality of its water.
Rafting at Marmore Falls
Those who want to take more extreme routes choose to go rafting under the Marmore Falls. Here the Nera River flows faster, creating 4th grade rapids through the rich vegetation of the Nera River Park.
Rafting in Norcia: the best trips on the Corno River
The best rafting trip in Norcia is on the Corno River. Along the river you pass through stretches where the water flows rapidly and stretches where you can contemplate the view in peace. Starting from Serravalle di Norcia, you reach the Biselli gorges, a striking spot characterized by high vertical walls overhanging the river.
Also, on the way, you can stop at a small beach to drink and refresh yourself with the pure water from a natural spring.
Rafting on the Nera River: the best trips
From Scheggino you can go rafting on the Nera River, on its 5-km stretch with no technical difficulties. This route is perfect for families with children and for those who want to appreciate the beauty of the Valnerina landscape.

Super-recommended experience for all
A very beautiful, relaxing and also fun experience. It's not true that rafting is an extreme sport: the route we took is more or less divided into two parts, a quieter one during which we could admire the really beautiful and historically rich landscapes (special thanks also to the guides who accompanied us and told us many interesting anecdotes) and a more dynamic one, with a faster current and a more challenging route. Our guides guided us excellently, always making us feel calm and making us have a lot of fun.
