Rafting in Umbria: everything you need to know
Rafting is a sporting discipline that involves descending a stream in a raft. Each raft can accommodate a maximum of 8 people.
Before setting off, a short basic lesson is held to learn how to properly use the paddles and the rest of the equipment. In addition to a swimsuit, participants wear a neoprene wetsuit, a life jacket and a protective helmet to travel safely.
Once on board, the rafting guide gives commands to the crew to move through the natural obstacles along the river.
The best rafting trips in Umbria
Rafting centers in Umbria organize activities suitable for everyone, beginners and experts.
Those who wish to go rafting in the Valnerina can choose to navigate the Nera River. Beginners and families prefer to go through the less challenging section, while thrill-seekers have a go at a harder route under the Marmore Falls.
Another possible location is the Corno River, a tributary of the Nera River, known for the quality of its water.
Rafting at Marmore Falls
Those who want to take more extreme routes choose to go rafting under the Marmore Falls. Here the Nera River flows faster, creating 4th grade rapids through the rich vegetation of the Nera River Park.
Rafting in Norcia: the best trips on the Corno River

Starting from Serravalle di Norcia, you reach the Biselli gorges, a striking spot characterized by high vertical walls overhanging the river.
Also, on the way, you can stop at a small beach to drink and refresh yourself with the pure water from a natural spring.

From Scheggino you can go rafting on the Nera River, on its 5-km stretch with no technical difficulties. This route is perfect for families with children and for those who want to appreciate the beauty of the Valnerina landscape.

Quickly down the river!
I had already had other rafting experiences, but I must admit that this one was the absolute best. Breathtaking views, the Biselli gorges with their morphology and history can only be fully admired from the course of the Corno river. But the descent was made fun and adventurous by the skill, enthusiasm and engaging ability of Sebastiano, our guide/instructor/entertainer, who made us fully enjoy using the dinghy in the little waterfalls and rapids as if it were a merry-go-round, all with skill, creativity and in complete safety. Even bathing in the river was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. In short: to be repeated!

It was our first experience and we really enjoyed it. Max was very nice . He made us enjoy the experience and put us at ease. The scenery helps a lot because it's really wonderful. If the route had been more challenging I would have enjoyed it more but I had my nine-year-old daughter at her first experience too so I'd say it went very well
