Horseback riding: what you need to know before setting off on an adventure
The first thing to know is that anyone can ride a horse. For a first experience, the guides prefer to take the participants for a ride on undemanding routes, perhaps around the equestrian center. The horses used for tours are docile and well-trained. An introductory lesson on basic horseback riding techniques or a simple review in the case of those who already have some experience is always given before setting off.
Horseback riding in Umbria: the best tours
Among the most popular spots for horseback riding in Umbria is Foligno, with its unspoiled valleys and blooming countryside. You can go horseback riding in Assisi, Gubbio, Spoleto or Norcia, exploring the surroundings of these fascinating villages in the saddle. Finally, the Alta Valle del Tevere and the Sibillini Mountains are also an excellent choice for horseback riding vacations and total immersion in nature.
How much does it cost to go horseback riding in Umbria?
For a horseback riding tour in Umbria, you spend from 25 to 80 euros per person, depending on the duration and offered services, such as a lunch at an agritourism. For multi-day experiences, such as a horseback riding weekend, the cost for overnight accommodations and related services must also be considered.

A hen party on horseback
We organised a ride to celebrate one of our friends’ hen party. We arrived and Asia, Marisa and Viola welcomed us with professionalism and a great deal of kindness. Asia then explained everything to us and got us ready for the ride, answering any questions and addressing our concerns. The horses are all lovely and wonderful; some of us were a bit nervous, others had never ridden before, but the horses and the staff made us feel at ease and ready. The Umbrian countryside is absolutely stunning. I can’t recommend the ranch highly enough, and the experience is absolutely brilliant. Thank you❤️

A truly special experience – not to be missed!
We had a brilliant experience with Massimiliano and the team. There were two of us on the ride: one first-timer and one with some experience. He was very helpful with the first-timer and made her feel safe and well looked after. He’s a friendly sort and a genuinely kind and funny person. The ride was gentle, taking in some lovely countryside and village scenery. The aperitif afterwards was incredible! They also run an agritourism business, where most of the food is produced on-site! The food was fresh, delicious and plentiful. We dined in a garden with spectacular views. A truly worthwhile experience!

A truly wonderful experience!
A truly wonderful experience!nnMy boyfriend and I found this activity on Freedom.nWhen we arrived, we were welcomed by Massimo and LuciannAs for the horse-riding experience, Massimo explained everything to us with great patience and professionalism. First, he helped us get used to the horses inside the paddock and, once we were ready, he took us out, allowing us to enjoy the full horse-riding experience.nnMassimo is one of those genuine people where you can clearly see that he does what he does, first and foremost, because he genuinely loves it. And it’s something you sense straight away.nnThen it was time for the aperitif, beautifully prepared and presented by Lucia. She served us locally sourced cured meats and a whole host of homemade treats, with those authentic flavours that, sadly, are increasingly hard to come by these days.nnAnd take note: they call it an aperitif, but it’s a proper

A lovely motorbike
A lovely, enjoyable ride – we’d been on horseback before, but he made sure we knew how to ride properly before setting off on the actual ride. The staff were extremely friendly and the aperitif was plentiful.
