Everything you need to know about rafting before pratciting it

Rafting is a group river sport that involves traveling down the course of a river or stream, overcoming rapids and other natural obstacles. A raft hosts a crew of 6 to 8 people, captained by a river guide who coordinates movements and gives commands.

In its recreational form, rafting is a sport suitable for everyone. No special skills or experience are required, you just need to have a good relationship with water and choose routes suitable to your level. Before starting, a preparation briefing on paddling techniques and safety rules is always held by the guide.

In addition to the raft and paddles, the rafting center always provides personal equipment, i.e. wetsuit, water jacket, helmet and life jacket. Participants are asked to wear a swimsuit, a thermal shirt (optional) and a pair of sneakers they’re fine with getting wet.

Rafting Rome: rafting trips on the Aniene and Tiber rivers

Rafting centers in Rome organize trips on the Tiber River in the city center, starting from Ponte Milvio. This type of activity is suitable for everyone as the route is mostly scenic. You travel through the heart of the city, passing by Tiber Island and Castel Sant’Angelo, with St. Peter’s Dome in the background. There is no shortage of adrenaline thanks to the rapids of Ponte Garibaldi and Ponte Fabricio.

Another important rafting location in Lazio is Subiaco, in the Aniene Valley. Reachable in 1 1/2 hours by car from Rome, the Aniene River with its dynamic, winding course is one of the most popular with adventurers and enthusiasts in central Italy.

Rafting Subiaco: the best rafting trips near Rome

The town of Subiaco, 70 km from Rome, is the base from which the rafting trips on the Aniene River start. In the heart of the Simbruini Mountains Park, this location offers striking natural scenery and rafting routes of different levels.

A classic rafting trip is 5 km long and involves passing rapids and winding sections. A power trip also includes several aquatics tests such as diving and current swimming. Finally, soft-rafting is the one practiced in the quieter stretches and is ideal for families with children.

How much does it cost to go rafting in Rome?

An urban rafting trip down the Tiber River in Rome costs 45 euros per person. The price includes all necessary equipment, accompaniment by experienced guides, and also a drink and snack at the end of the trail.

Gift a rafting experience in Rome

Choose an unusual and original gift for the next occasion to celebrate with friends and family. Whether it’s a birthday, graduation, or anniversary, a rafting trip can be the right idea if you want to surprise someone.

Great experience and great team

The guys in the staff were very friendly and helpful on the day of the experience. The guide was nice and really knowledgeable. Wonderful place, ideal in spring or autumn to enjoy the river and the views. I would like to add that they very kindly postponed the experience 2 times due to personal problems, without any problems or anything else. I recommend both the experience and the organisation

Tiber Rafting 23 August 2024

A more than positive experience, the perspective from the Tiber is different and very fascinating. Our guides were very friendly despite the fact that we unfortunately arrived a bit late and explained a few points of the city to us. We highly recommend it to everyone! A nice, different and special adventure!

We spent two hours of pure fun and laughter, the guys from the vivere l' Aniene team are kind and welcoming, Giordano our river guide, a madman, made us die laughing, but apart from that he is above all a competent guy in love with his job! We'll take you to cuore♥️ Anyway.... If you want to spend a few hours in nature, without missing out on the fun... don't think twice.... Thanks guys.
