Going rafting: useful information to better carry out the activity
Rafting is a team sport that involves navigating the course of a river by overcoming rapids and other natural obstacles. The rafts carry a crew of 6 to 8 people. Each raft is captained by an experienced river guide who coordinates participants and gives commands for navigation.
A preparation briefing on paddling techniques and safety rules is held before departure. The route usually alternates between quiet stretches and more lively, winding sections. The best season for rafting is between April and October. Full equipment is provided by the rafting center. You only need to wear swimsuit, thermal shirt and sneakers.
The best rafting trips in Lazio: Rome, Subiaco and Cassino
The main rafting locations in Lazio are Subiaco, a few kilometers from Rome, and Cassino, in the province of Frosinone. Rafting centers in Subiaco organize trips on the Aniene River. Located in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains Park, the Aniene is a particularly winding waterway and, because of this, a lot of fun to raft along.
Rafting in Cassino, on the other hand, is done on the Gari River, which is smaller in flow but just as impressive and fun. There are “soft” and shorter trips on both rivers, suitable for families with children, and “power” trips for the more adventurous.
Another option for those who want to go rafting in Rome is to venture on the waters of the Tiber. Here it is possible to go urban rafting and travel along the river in its central stretches, crossing ancient Roman bridges and passing by some famous monuments such as Castel Sant’Angelo.
Rafting Lazio: how much does it cost?
The average price for going rafting in Lazio is around 40€ per person. Costs vary according to length and type of route, and there are often discounts for children. Equipment is always included in the price, as well as transfers to the embarkation/disembarkation point, where provided.

What a show!!!!
Hi everyone, it was a wonderful experience. I’d already been rafting and hydrospeeding at the Marmore Falls, but as I have a 9-year-old son, I opted for the ‘soft’ option. You’re all brilliant and really friendly. Well done, well done, well done!
